Chapter 8: Human Anatomy Book (6th ed.)


Instructions: This week, class we are going to learn about the human support structure, also known as the skeletal system. We are going to cover the major bones in the human body.  We will start with the human skull and end with the human feet. When we are done with this chapter you are going to have a broaden knowledge of the human skeletal system.


Assignments: I am assigning four homework assignments. (5pts each)

  • Monday: Skull assignment 
  • Tuesday: Body assignment
  • Wednesday: Upper Appendages (arms) assignment
  • Thursday: Lower Appendages (legs) assignment

Test: I will give a test at the end of the week to allow you to challenge what you have learned over the week. (25pts with a chance for 3 extra credit pts)

  • 3D presentation - this site is posted to allow you to go 3D and look at the human skeletal system.
  • Extra Credit Notes: The human skeletal system when born consists of 300-350 bones, Adult consists of 206 bones. The reason adults have less bones then infants is because bones fuse together. The average human consist of  28  skull bones (8  cranial, 14 facial, and 6 ear bones). The vertebrae consist of  26 bones (7 cervical, 12, 5 lumbar and the coccyx) and the  human arms and legs consist of 120 bones or 30 bones each limb. Human hand consist of 27 bones, while a human foot consist of  26  bones.
